Abstract

The aim of the study. On the basis of the conducted clinical-anamnestic, psychodiagnostic and clinical-psychopathological research to identify mental evidence, develop and test the effectiveness of the system of psychotherapeutic correction of mental exhaustion in students of the 1st-3rd year of a higher educational medical institution.

Materials and methods. 770 students of the Zaporizhzhia State Medical University (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) who studied at various courses and faculties of the institution were examined
in the session period with the preservation of the principles of bioethics and under the conditions of voluntary informed consent. Among the formed contingent, students with signs of mental exhaustion were previously identified: their share of students in the first year of study was 44 (47.8%) students, in the second – 48 (49.5%) students, in the third – 75 (64.7%) students.

Results and their discussion. A system of psychotherapeutic correction of states of mental exhaustion in students of 1st-3rd years of a higher educational medical institution has been developed, it was based on the principles of existential psychotherapy and ensures the selection of congruent methods of psychotherapeutic influence depending on the type of detected variant of the state of mental cognition. It was proven that the developed system has a high level of effectiveness: students who received appropriate psychotherapeutic support demonstrated lower indicators of emotional awareness, depersonalization, were less likely to decrease personal achievements, successfully assessed their well-being better, slightly higher levels of activity and mood compared to students who did not receive such support.

Conclusions. An effective system of psychotherapeutic correction of the states of mental exhaustion in students of the 1st-3rd years of a higher educational medical institution has been developed, which is based on the principles of existential psychotherapy and is an element of a multi-level complex of measures for the psychological support of student youth, which requires further improvement by imposing accompanying components of organizational and pedagogical influence with the purpose of overcoming and preventing the formation of stable states of maladaptation.
